Basic Backflow Introduce
As a property owner or business manager in California, protecting your drinking water supply is not just a health precaution—it’s a legal requirement. State and local regulations across California mandate the installation and annual testing of backflow prevention assemblies to safeguard the public water system from potential contamination. This is where specialized plumbing services like Basic Backflow step in, focusing their expertise exclusively on this critical and highly regulated area of water safety.
Basic Backflow, based in San Bernardino, has built a reputation on over two decades of experience dedicated to cross-connection control and backflow prevention. Their mission is to ensure that your home or business remains in compliance with all municipal and county water regulations, protecting your investment and, most importantly, the health of your community. The term “backflow” refers to the undesirable reversal of water flow in a plumbing system. Under normal pressure, water flows from the public supply into your property. However, events like water main breaks, sudden drops in pressure from fire-fighting, or even high pressure from an unaddressed internal system (like a boiler) can cause contaminated water to be siphoned or forced back into the clean, potable water system.
Contaminants from irrigation systems, swimming pools, cooling systems, or industrial processes can pose serious health risks if they mix with the public drinking water. Therefore, California requires properties with potential cross-connections, such as those with fire sprinkler systems, irrigation lines, or specific commercial equipment, to install and maintain backflow prevention devices. Annual testing of these devices by a certified professional is mandatory to ensure the mechanical components—like seals, springs, and valves—are functioning correctly and will act as a fail-safe when a pressure change occurs.
The founder of Basic Backflow, Steve Landrus, brings an impressive background with over 35 years of experience in backflow prevention and related water specialties. His extensive certifications, including Backflow Prevention Device Tester, Cross Connection Control Specialist, and Water Quality Specialist, underscore the company's commitment to professionalism and deep technical expertise in this niche field. Choosing a company that specializes and is highly certified in this area, rather than a general plumbing service, provides an added layer of confidence in the quality and compliance of the work performed.

A review from a warehouse manager highlights the company’s ability to act decisively in a crisis: "Someone cut and stole our backflow device outside our warehouse over the weekend. So we were out of water and could not use the restrooms. We had to use our drinking water to flush when it was urgent. Luckily Steve and James from Basic Backflow came to rescue within couple hours after we contacted them. We definitely recommend this company. Best service ever!" This testimonial speaks volumes about their commitment to customer emergencies and the swift, effective resolution of critical issues that directly impact a business's operations and sanitation.
While the majority of feedback points to their experience and professional capability, as with any service provider, customer experiences can vary. One review noted a difficulty with the required prepayment policy and scheduling guarantee for a non-emergency business opening. Prospective clients should be aware of company policies regarding payment and scheduling for non-urgent compliance tests to ensure they align with their project timelines. However, the combined factors of over 25 years in the business, comprehensive certifications, a wide service radius, and a proven track record of handling high-stakes emergencies solidify Basic Backflow’s standing as a highly qualified and reliable specialist in the crucial field of water supply protection across Southern California. April 13 · frankie chandrasekharSteve is extremely rude. Needed a backflow test done to open a new business, this backflow company requires you to prepay but cannot guarantee when they’ll do the job. Save yourself the hassle, go elsewhere.
September 25 · Angie EichmeierI normally don't like to leave bad feedback unless I get the runaround or lie to, I had simple ask if they can perform a job and asked them if it could be done with in 2 weeks, Steve assuming the owner ensured me that could be done, after 2 weeks I had to call and ask if the job was done, first i got the runarounds saying that the per the notice that they had 2 more weeks to perform, well yes but as a GC we needed time to complete out part as well this was the reason I had asked them to if they could get it done with in the 2 weeks and very rudely Steve answers the phone and said to have someone else do the work after the 2 weeks of running around
