The Country Plumber Introduce
For homeowners and businesses throughout the Portage area and wider Wisconsin region, dealing with plumbing, sewer, or septic issues requires a reliable, experienced, and local professional. That is where The Country Plumber steps in. As a comprehensive provider of essential waste system and plumbing services, this company is a key resource for maintaining the comfort and functionality of your property. They have established themselves as a premier company for septic, sewer, and plumbing needs, focusing on delivering quality products and services combined with honesty and integrity at a fair price.
The core philosophy of The Country Plumber is to treat every customer like family, striving to ensure a positive service experience that customers will feel comfortable recommending to their friends. They are not just focused on fixing a leak or pumping a tank; they aim to provide complete solutions and outstanding customer service for every job, whether it is a small repair or a large-scale commercial installation project. Recognizing the unique needs of Wisconsin properties, especially those relying on private sewage systems, they offer specialized knowledge to ensure compliance and optimal system health.
Beyond traditional plumbing, their expertise extends into the vital area of septic systems. Unlike properties connected to municipal sewer lines, those with private septic systems rely on an on-site waste water treatment plant. Proper care, maintenance, and timely service are crucial for these systems, and The Country Plumber is equipped to handle everything from routine pumping to complex installation and repair of various system types, including mound systems and conventional systems. Their broad service portfolio is designed to be a convenient, single source for virtually any water or waste-related issue a Wisconsin property owner might face.
The main operations for The Country Plumber are centrally located to serve the Portage and surrounding Wisconsin communities efficiently. Being based locally allows them to provide timely and often same-day service for emergency plumbing and sewer backups, a critical factor for home and business owners experiencing unexpected issues.
The physical address is:
N6578 US-51, Portage, WI 53901, USA
They offer onsite services, meaning their professional team will travel directly to your location to address the problem, ensuring maximum convenience for the customer. Their regular business hours are typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and they also offer emergency service availability to assist customers with urgent plumbing and sewer disasters outside of these hours.

For Wisconsin residents, choosing the right contractor for plumbing, sewer, and septic needs is a critical decision that impacts home maintenance, property value, and health. The Country Plumber presents a compelling case for selection by offering an unusually wide array of services that cover almost all aspects of water and waste management. Their dual expertise in both conventional plumbing and specialized septic/sewer systems means customers rarely need to call multiple contractors, simplifying the process of resolving complex issues.
A key factor is their readiness for urgent issues, demonstrated by the dispatch of three trucks daily and the availability of emergency service. For immediate problems like a basement flood due to a clogged lateral line, as one customer attested, their quick and effective response can be invaluable. This ability to respond promptly, diagnose the issue accurately (such as through video televising for blockages caused by tree roots), and execute the repair efficiently speaks volumes about their operational capacity and commitment to minimizing disruption for the customer.
Furthermore, their transparent business practices, including flat-rate pricing and notification of plumber dispatch, are designed to build trust and ensure a comfortable customer experience. The attention to detail, like the use of long hoses for septic pumping to protect a customer's lawn, shows a consideration for the client’s property. While like any business, they have faced customer service and billing challenges, their comprehensive service list—from septic installation that includes a pre-work soil test, to high-tech drain cleaning—positions The Country Plumber as a robust and versatile solution for the challenging and essential needs of plumbing and on-site waste management across the region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Country Plumber was recommended by the City of Portage Water department due to having a Lateral line potentially plugged by debris/tree roots. When Country Plumbers was contacted the receptionist was really polite and understood my concern. After checking with Management for response time a voicemail was left on my phone stating they could respond the same day. The Country Plumber team arrived validated the concerns removed necessary equipment and promptly snacked over 75 feet of lateral plumbing pipe finding debris that cause for blockage and basement flooding. Sine their repair the Lateral line is flowing free. Thanks to Country Plumber for the response, service, quality of repair and customer service. I highly recommend this business!
October 09 · Paul VollmanIf anyone needs their septic pumped anytime soon, I suggest NOT using The Country Plumber and save yourself a headache.First problem that arose was I called for the service at the end of August and was informed they could take my credit card for payment. Alright, good.Received a call a day before the service advising that since my appointment was made, they instituted a fee for credit cards and asked what I wanted to do.I informed the person, when I scheduled the service, I was told it was X amount of dollars and I’d like that price to be honored without the newly added fee. The answer was "Nope".Second problem arose when they came to perform the service. See the pictures attached, I think they speak for themselves.Called the business to make them aware of the stains left in my driveway.I was transferred to a manager who immediately said it would be simply impossible for anything to leak from their vehicle and that the tire marks were from the road, not their tires.Received the bill the other day, advising that 1400 gallons was pumped out. We moved into the house (brand new build) on May 7th of 2022, service was performed on September 26th 2024. This is 873 days of waste being collected in the tank. When a septic tank is pumped, they are removing solids, sludge, and scum from the tank.If 1,400 gallons (exactly) of solids, sludge and scum was removed, this means two people (only two people occupy the dwelling) would need to be producing 1.60 gallons of "solids" a day which I don't believe adds up given that 1 of the occupants of the dwelling doesn't even "use the bathroom" every day and for one person to create a gallon and a half of solid waste is not simply feasible. So again, stay away from this company if you want to save yourself a headache. It took forever (about an hour and half of constant brushing and cleaning application) to get the stains out shown in the first two pictures, a trip to the store and out of pocket expenses to clean up this companies . Tire marks are still present.Wouldn't have felt the need to leave such a review if the company would have heard my initial complaints and attempted to provide some sort of solution to any of the issues that transpired however automatically and immediately, nothing could be done about the credit card fee, and their driver simply couldn't have done anything wrong and their trucks and I quote: "Never leak anything."
October 07 · Brad TemplinRyan and his brother came this morning to drain my hot water heater. Went to another job, so I could go to work myself. Came back when done with other job. I couldn't ask for better customer service. Installed the new hot water heater. Excellent service and very pleasant to work with. Will be using for all other things in future for repairs.
May 01 · Sandy Rowin⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5 Stars)I had a very disappointing experience with Country Plumber, Inc. and would not recommend them. They came to clear a clog and opened it through the downstairs toilet for $275. After finishing, they told me that roots were coming out and that the issue could be due to pipe separation, meaning the problem might come back. They said they couldn’t warranty their work unless they checked further, which would cost an additional $150.Since I wanted the job done right, I agreed, expecting the total to be $425. But when I received the bill, they had me charged EXTRA $450 instead of the $150 they originally stated, bringing the total to $725.The real issue isn’t just the cost—it’s that even after I paid extra, they still included a note saying “NO WARRANTY” and admitted that some roots were still left behind. So in the end, there was no pipe separation—just roots, which they didn’t fully remove. If they weren’t going to guarantee their work and didn’t completely fix the problem, why push for the additional service in the first place?I don’t mind paying for quality work, but I expect honesty and professionalism. Instead, I was left with an inflated bill and an incomplete job. If you’re considering hiring them, I strongly recommend getting all pricing and guarantees in writing before they do anything beyond the initial service.
March 04 · BEA5 Plungers!!!! Great service! My pump inside my septic tank failed. They were able to set up my appointment quickly. They had two very nice knowledgeable men replace the pump quickly and efficiently. They had to do some digging to get to the electrical and they put all the dirt back, can't even tell they touched it at all. Highly recommend!!!!
