Choosing a professional plumber in the Birmingham, AL, area requires careful consideration of several factors, including service scope, location, and, critically, customer service track record. Bonham & Buckner Plumbing Co is an established option that offers essential plumbing and repair services and the convenience of credit card payment.
However, prospective customers in Alabama should always perform due diligence by looking beyond basic offerings to review the experiences of previous clients. While the company's presence in Birmingham is a mark of its commitment to the local community, the public record also includes significant, specific customer feedback that must be weighed carefully.
Available reviews from past customers raise specific and detailed concerns that potential clients should acknowledge as part of their decision-making process. These accounts suggest serious issues related to service fulfillment, particularly concerning warranty work and complex diagnostic tasks. One customer detailed a frustrating experience involving an undiagnosed toilet problem during a warranty period, which escalated into a catastrophic sewage blockage and flood after the warranty expired. The review alleges a complete lack of follow-up on a major issue that occurred shortly after installation by the company itself, citing a failure to properly diagnose and correct the problem despite multiple visits and a subsequent lack of communication.
Another customer raised a significant concern regarding billing and pricing practices, specifically alleging that they were charged four times the verified going rate for a backflow testing service. This customer stated they were charged $200 for a service that competitors verified cost approximately $50, alleging this overcharge was labeled as "extra on backflow" without justification and that the company refused to make any adjustment. Such accounts concerning both quality of service fulfillment and pricing transparency highlight areas where the company's performance has reportedly fallen short of customer expectations.
Therefore, for an Alabama resident considering Bonham & Buckner Plumbing Co, the decision is one that requires balancing the convenience of a local Birmingham plumber offering necessary repair services and credit card payment options against these serious and specific past customer complaints. It is always recommended that you request clear, written quotes before any work begins, especially for routine services, and ensure a full understanding of warranty terms and service guarantees before engaging with any service provider for complex installations or critical repairs. Prospective clients must conduct thorough research to ensure the chosen plumber aligns with their expectations for quality workmanship, fair pricing, and reliable long-term service commitment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Bonham plumbing is one of the worst plumbing companies I have ever dealt with. I bought a new home and this company installed all the plumbing and serviced the warranty for the first year. One of my toilets was always clogged, called them several times and they never found the problem. Right after the one year warranty expired I had a total sewage blockage. My bathroom flooded, master BR and walk in closet all flooded with sewage. They came out after I had everything cleanup by another company and said they still didn’t know what was causing this problem!! Mind you, they put in all the plumbing but can’t find the problem! They said they would get back with me to see what could be done to fix this problem. A month later, I’m still waiting on that call. If you use them you better hope everything is done right because they DO NOT stand behind their work and disappear if you have a major issue.
December 12 · debra boydWe needed backflow testing and reported to BWW and this company charged us 4 times the going rate. What should have cost $50 ( verified with competitors that this was the going rate and it’s what I have paid the last 3 years) was charged $200…Called to ask for clarification as to why this invoice was labeled “extra on backflow” and was told there was no issue or problems. Tried to get them to make it right but to no avail…Buyer beware! This company will rip you off!
November 02 · Tiffany BarnettA company ran by great people. When I was in Afghanistan, they sent care packages for an entire platoon of Marines for a full deployment. Good people!
December 09 · David LoganWe asked Bonham to give us an estimate to replace our hot water heater because it was leaking. They came out the next day and offered a detailed estimate with a good price. They came and replaced it the next day on time. The technicians were professional and cleaned up after themselves. We would use Bonham in the future for our plumbing needs.
May 25 · Diane McTamneyBeware of this company. They did the plumbing in several new houses in Liberty Park that have caused numerous problems. Our next door neighbor’s master bath flooded the first day they moved in. We’ve had numerous issues at our house. They installed the wrong tub stopper in one of the tubs. When they came to fix it, they left the biggest mess and rinsed some of the mess down the tub drain!!!! Then over the past 6 months the cold water shut off valve on 5, yes 5 sinks have dripped to the point of flooding several bathrooms! We absolutely do not recommend this plumber!
