Mick Gage Plumbing & Heating Introduce
For over five decades, Mick Gage Plumbing & Heating has been a foundational resource for home comfort and critical utility services across Charles City, Iowa, and the surrounding regions. Established in 1969, this veteran-owned business offers a comprehensive spectrum of essential services, far exceeding the typical scope of a standard plumber. They integrate expert plumbing, heating, and cooling (HVAC) services with specialized offerings like septic system service and the installation of premium hearth products, creating a true one-stop-shop for maintaining and enhancing North Iowa homes and businesses.
Operating out of Charles City, Mick Gage Plumbing & Heating is built on a legacy of experience, commitment, and community focus. Their dual expertise as both a licensed plumber and an HVAC contractor is particularly valuable in the Iowa climate, where extreme weather demands reliable, interconnected systems for water, heat, and air quality. The services extend from common needs, such as a water heater installation or a simple toilet repair, to sophisticated projects, including the installation of energy-efficient Geothermal Heating and Cooling systems and complex industrial plumbing applications.
The firm's dedication to comprehensive care is evident in their proactive approach to maintenance, offering regular maintenance and repair services across all their disciplines—plumbing, heating, and septic. Advanced technologies, such as Drain Line Video Inspection and Hydro-Jetting, ensure that drain and sewer cleaning is performed thoroughly and efficiently, minimizing disruption and guaranteeing long-lasting results for both residential and commercial properties.
Beyond the functional necessities of pipes and furnaces, Mick Gage Plumbing & Heating is also recognized in the Charles City area as a premier provider of hearth products. Their ability to manage the entire process for gas fireplaces, wood stoves—such as the Lopi brand mentioned by a customer—and other heating elements, from insightful consultation with knowledgeable staff like Brian Gage and Marty, to professional installation through brick and masonry, underscores their commitment to specialized and high-quality solutions. This integrated approach ensures that every project, whether a routine faucet repair or a complex new construction HVAC installation, is handled with consistent, high-level expertise by a single trusted provider.
Customer testimonials consistently highlight the company's responsiveness, quality of work, and generosity, such as the extraordinary act of goodwill in providing and installing a new furnace free of charge to a family in need during the holidays. This level of community engagement, alongside their identification as a veteran-owned business, demonstrates a commitment to values that resonate deeply with Iowa residents, fostering trust and long-term relationships that stretch back to their founding in 1969. For any homeowner, business manager, or new construction builder in the Iowa region, choosing Mick Gage Plumbing & Heating is a decision for comprehensive competence and deep-seated reliability. When selecting a service provider, the value is not just in the repair itself, but in the breadth of knowledge and the consistency of the team. With over 50 years in operation—since 1969—Mick Gage brings an institutional knowledge of Iowa’s residential and commercial systems that is difficult to match. This longevity, coupled with their veteran-owned status, establishes a high level of trust and professionalism in the Charles City community.
The greatest benefit, however, is the complete integration of services. Instead of juggling a plumber for a burst pipe, an HVAC contractor for a broken furnace, and a separate company for septic tank pumping, Mick Gage handles all three. This trifecta of expertise—Plumber, HVAC contractor, and Septic system service—simplifies home maintenance and provides superior diagnostic capabilities, as problems in one area (e.g., HVAC) are often linked to another (e.g., plumbing or water quality). Their specialized offerings, from Geothermal Energy and Radiant Heating Systems to the sale and meticulous installation of premium wood stoves and gas fireplaces, ensure that every aspect of home comfort is managed by experts. The attested kindness of their crew and management, particularly their readiness to offer 24-Hour Emergency Service and community support, makes Mick Gage Plumbing & Heating the clear choice for quality, reliability, and care in North Iowa. Choosing them means choosing a family of technicians dedicated not just to fixing problems, but to ensuring the long-term functionality and comfort of your home or business.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I choose Mick Gage for the installation of a new Lopi Wood Stove over another company from Des Moines. I was not disappointed! My first impression from the first visit to the store and conversations with Marty and others was informative.Brian Gage came out to review job, installation area and pitch of roof and provided insight on how the tasks would be carried out.Within days, I had a quote in my in box.Job was completed the other day and it couldn’t have come out any better.Because I live a distance away from their Charles City store, they came out with four men to accomplish the task quickly and efficiently and have enough hands to lift and move the heavy stove. Install included drilling through a brick and block wall for the chimney and up through a deck and the eaves. The team did a super job!I Highly recommend this outfit for wood stoves, fireplaces, heating and cooling needs!Three Cheers to All!
September 23 · Robert NazarioThe word thank you is not even enough and close to express me and my family's gratitude for they have help lend us heaters as soon as our furnished shutdown and reach its limit. Most of all the helping hand they gave my family to warm our HOME by installing the NEW FURNISHED free of charge. On behalf of my family, To Mick Gage and crew THANK YOU! You guys have given the warmest Christmas we could ever wish for.
December 19 · ja rielynWe woke up to a cold house about a month ago-our furnace had quit working. So I called the office to schedule a repair, thinking it would be a day or two before we could get anyone out to take a look at the problem. I was pleasantly surprised when Marty, the guy who took my call, said he’d get someone out in a couple of hours-and the guy showed up about an hour later. He diagnosed the problem as the igniter & went back to the shop, got one and had the old one replaced in no time. Yay! We had heat again! Fast forward a month later and we wake up to a cold house again and it’s Saturday! I called the office, thinking I’d leave a voice mail requesting a recheck on the new igniter. Marty answered (in a Saturday!!) and said he’d send the on call tech out and he was here within an hour or so. The problem was a cracked heat exchanger, which wasn’t surprising, as the furnace was more than 25 years old. So he sent pictures of the furnace & heat exchanger to Mick Gage, who called us shortly with a quote for a new furnace. The techs were here early Monday morning with a new unit, removed the ancient furnace, installed the new one, and cleaned up afterward. Later that afternoon, Mr. Gage himself stopped by to check the work & make sure we were satisfied with everything. We’re very impressed by the courtesy extended us throughout this encounter and will certainly call Mick Gage Plumbing & Heating again should the need arise.
January 07 · Leah PassCalled them when my shower faucet started running water constantly even in the off position. Sent someone out the next day, was there for 10 minutes to remove a faucet cover only to not have the tool needed and that it was in Waverly. Promptly left. Did not hear from them the rest of the day. Waited until around noon the next day to call, was told they would see if they could get someone out. Nothing was heard the rest of the day. Next day (day 3 now) called and was told they would call back. They called back 30min before closing stating they could not get anyone until late the next day. I told them not to bother I will get someone else. Got new plumber and was fixed same day. Now I just received a $107 bill for them to have never even started on this. Not happy at all and will never use this company again.
February 14 · Reaperx1911 GamingI have tried for 6 months to have these people work on my existing fireplace and purchase a new electric fireplace and not only did they NOT give me an estimate not did they call and talk to me about what they could do or how much. Instead they rudely told me I was small time and they didn't have time to mess with my small time job!!!!!? This was from the owner. They promised many many times to send an estimate or call and NEVER received anything. EXCEPT a BILL for NOTHING!!!!
