July 10 · Vick PatelLast Friday, I realized that my 2nd floor toilet was leaking into my first floor bathroom. I spoke with Jeffery at Fortified plumbing who had someone out within a day or two. Shane assessed the situation and also gave me advice about my cold water shutoff. Brandon came out to do the job, assessed the situation, headed out to get the appropriate toilet, returned and got the job done with just enough time for me to get a coat of paint up behind where the toilet would go. The toilet looks and works great. Brandon also had just enough time to remove a nonfunctioning ice maker line in my kitchen; a bonus project completed. Yay!Brandon was punctual, polite, skilled and very knowledgeable about his line of work. He also took the time to explain what he was doing and why. I learned a lot about toilets and plumbing that day. I would highly recommend Brandon and this company to others for their plumbing needs.
October 03 · melissa linickHad a sump pump replaced and a bath tub faucet. I talked to Eric over the phone he gave me a verbal estimate and confirmed a date when the job could be done. First day they missed the appointment time because the guy coming to do the job though he was coming to provide a quote only and wanted to do that over the phone but I told him I was told they would be here to take care of the job. He showed up, was a long day and he had to come back the next day. He said he’d be here at 9 am but he actually arrived closer to 11 am. He gave me a different estimate than was provided over the phone the first time and the second day of the job more expenses were brought up, when I asked for a breakdown of those he said he couldn’t provide it. I don’t doubt they do good quality work but the communication could be better and more transparent. I ended up hiring someone else to take care of other things I needed done.
July 31 · Quetzalli VaGueWhere do I start with my experience with Fortified Plumbing. On July 3rd, I called them out to snake a drain due to a clog in my main sewer line. I figured because they were local and had fantastic reviews, they would be reliable. The gentleman who came out to snake the drain was extremely respectful and a pleasure to deal with. After a few hours, my main line was cleared of the obstruction. I was then charged a whopping $700 for the clearing, but was told they suspected damage to my main line under the concrete and wanted to camera it.Fortified came back out the following Monday to camera the main line. They charged me $125 for that (insane that it wasn’t included in the initial $700). After that, I was given a written quote of $17,000 (with concrete) to replace the main sewer line below my basement. The quote stated the line was “completely ate out” 30 feet towards the city pick up. Basically that my main sewer line was eroded away from the bottom and needed to be replaced. This of course caused panic to me as my homeowners insurance denied coverage of this repair. Thankfully, I had the wherewithal to contact other reputable plumbing companies to come give their opinion.Well, it turns out, there was absolutely no damage to my main sewer line whatsoever. Both companies used a camera to check the line and even provided me with the video from the cameras. No erosion, no tree roots, just needed a simple descaling due to some build up on the sides. My REAL issue was found to be a faulty bathroom group that was also below the concrete in my basement. Similar work (labor) as to what Fortified quoted me on, but a completely different line that wouldn’t have solved the problem in the first place. What was my quote from these companies for the real issue? LESS THAN HALF of what Fortified quoted me for something that wasn’t even an issue, but involved the same labor (digging up the concrete and fixing the issues). Both companies also informed me that $17,000 was more than a stretch. A predatory number. Both companies quoted me less than half of what Fortified quoted to do the work Fortified said I originally needed. Let that sink in. Less than half. And these are reputable commercial/residential plumbing companies. While I can’t speak to their quality of work, as I’m sure they do quality work. I can speak to the predatory practices of what they are quoting people and charging. I have always put my faith in reputable companies to not overcharge me due to my ignorance, but this has completely ruined that.People, please get outside opinions and don’t just settle after the first estimate. For proof, I am also attaching their quote to this.
July 16 · Christopher D'OrazioI’ve used Fortified Plumbing in the past, and both times they’ve been incredibly reasonably priced compared to other quotes I’ve gotten. They show up when they say they will, and they do quality work. This time, Brandon came out. He was about finished, but he noticed an issue with their tool and wanted to redo the valves to make sure it wouldn’t be an issue. He could have left and I wouldn’t have known (until a problem came up later), but he was sure to stay longer to get it right the first time. This is the kind of honesty and integrity you expect from any contractor! I will continue to call Fortified for my plumbing needs in the future.
