Drain Openers Plus Introduce
For homeowners and residents in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, dealing with a plumbing issue—whether it is a leaky faucet, a malfunctioning toilet, or the dreaded cold shower from a broken water heater—requires prompt and reliable service. Drain Openers Plus is a local plumbing contractor rooted in the Forsyth County area, focused on providing essential repair services to address these common household nuisances. As a dedicated local plumber, their business is centered around the core maintenance and installation tasks that keep your home's water and waste systems functioning as they should.
The company’s service offering, categorized broadly as "Repair services," indicates a specialization in fixing existing problems rather than focusing on new construction or large-scale remodeling. This focus on repair means they are often the first call for urgent, necessary fixes across the Piedmont Triad region. They understand that a plumbing issue can quickly escalate from a minor inconvenience to a major household crisis, and their goal is to provide the required solutions for common breakdowns.
It is important for local users to note that Drain Openers Plus appears to operate within the home warranty service network, accepting requests through third-party providers like First American Home Warranty. While this can offer a convenient route for covered repairs, prospective customers should always conduct their own research, as public customer experiences suggest varying degrees of satisfaction, particularly regarding the execution of repairs and communication following a service call. Transparency in service and reliability are key considerations for any local North Carolina contractor, and thorough vetting of a company’s recent performance is always recommended.

What is Worth Choosing Drain Openers Plus?
Choosing a plumber in North Carolina often comes down to finding a balance between immediate availability, expertise, and a smooth customer experience. For residents in Winston-Salem, Drain Openers Plus is primarily worth considering if your plumbing issue is covered by a home warranty that partners with them. The convenience of a warranty service referral is often a deciding factor for homeowners in the Triad. Their specialization in core repair services—such as water heater, toilet, and faucet repair—means they are focused on the most frequent and critical household malfunctions. Accepting credit card payments also adds a layer of convenience when settling a service bill.
However, potential customers must proceed with caution and a heightened degree of vigilance. While the company clearly provides a needed local service, multiple customer reviews raise serious concerns regarding the consistency of the technicians’ work quality, professionalism, and follow-up communication. Stories of alleged new problems being created during a diagnosis, unresolved leaks, and difficulties reaching the technician after the service are concerning trends noted in public feedback.
For any homeowner choosing this company, especially through a third-party warranty, it is highly recommended to:
- Observe the Work Closely: Stay present during the service to monitor the repair process, especially for complex items like water heaters or disposals.
- Thoroughly Test the Repair: Immediately after the technician leaves, test the fixture (toilet, faucet, etc.) multiple times to confirm the problem is fully resolved.
- Document Everything: Take photos before and after the repair, and insist on a detailed written receipt or work order.
While the local presence and repair-focused services are undeniable benefits, the key to a satisfactory experience with Drain Openers Plus in Winston-Salem, NC, lies in proactive customer engagement and a clear understanding that the responsibility for ensuring the quality of the final repair may heavily fall to the homeowner. For those seeking reliable, guaranteed service, exploring all local alternatives is a prudent step before finalizing a commitment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I paid a service fee through “First American Home warranty” to have my garbage disposal fixed. The only problem with my garbage disposal is the engine seemed dull when I flipped the switch. It did not leak underneath sink when faucet was on and it did not make much of a sound. “Drain Openers plus” accepted my request and Phil was the technician to show up on service day. Phil Truitt turned on the sink and then tried to unscrew something underneath the sink. Since he wasn’t able to muscle the screw, he started aggressively hitting it with some metal object he brought with him. I thought it was part of the job, so I allowed him do his thing. He turned the faucet on and said there was a leak. I asked, “leak where?” Mind you, I have a Simplisafe water detector right underneath the sink so I know that there was no leak prior to Phil’s diagnosis. I proceeded to check underneath the sink and saw no leakage. Phil turned the faucet on and also saw no leakage. He said, “that’s strange.” He proceeded to bang on the disposal item underneath the sink aggressively until finally it gave way to water just dripping profusely underneath my sink. This was when I realized he was actually creating more problems for me. He turned to me and said, “ this will have to be replaced.” I asked him, “are you sure it was not your banging that created the leak?” He then told me he would come back out first thing tomorrow morning if he’s able to get a like-for-like garbage disposal for replacement. It’s almost end of work day and I still have not heard from Phil. I am very disappointed. Please take your business elsewhere. Drain Openers Plus either needs new technicians or need the whole company shut down for false skill advertisements.
July 31 · George UApparently American home Warranty doesn’t read google reviews 😂 so they sent this guy to me this morning. He claimed to fix the problem in no time. After he left I went in to clean up what I thought was remaining water, only to discover the toilet still leaked. When I tried to contact him the number didn’t even work. 🫤 At least AHW is sending somebody else.
September 09 · Maureen PileggiPhil with drain openers plus was sent by home warranty company to look at my water heater. He quickly looked at it and said I needed a new one. The heater was ordered and shipped to his house within a week. Myself nor the insurance company could get in touch with Mr. Phil. Another week went by and still no word. I had to purchase a heater myself and pay to have it installed. The insurance company is only going to reimburse for half of what I had to pay. I suggested they never use this company again. I think Phil is taking these water heaters and installing them in uninsured houses. He should have zero stars. Do not waste your time on this deplorable man!!! Insist that you get a different contractor!
December 19 · Melodie WainscottThis place is horrible. My home warranty dispatched this company Phil to work on my water heater. Phil reached out and the first states “ we had issues with our phone lines”. Day 2 sent an email asking if we could be there between 8-12 the next day. My property manager agreed to the time. she said Phil never showed. First American called Phil and he states” we did not have them on our schedule “ We have emails and text confirming the appointment. This company should be reported. Very unprofessional and by other reviews it shows it also.
August 30 · Shaunte' JohnsonI truly wish I could give this a higher review, as at the time I felt he was quick and professional . I contacted First American Home Warranty about a potential pipe leak I had in my ceiling, back in early December. I had turned a secondary shut off valve off in the mean time, including a hot water valve for the upstairs vanity.Phil came by about right on time in the morning and was friendly. I showed him the spot in the ceiling and we went upstairs. I told him what I had done via the shut off & the hot water valve, as i couldnt also turn the cold off upstairs because it was stuck. He tried as well and did not want to risk breaking it (thank you! 🙏) He turned both valves back on and let me know the warranty company does not cover secondary damage due to the leak . This I can understand. In hindsight the process felt too rushed, he waited to see if the leak would happen again and it hadn't. All in all i feel the visit was about 20-35 minutes. Lo and behold i had checked back a week later, fine . Today I see the leak came back with a vengeance and am very upset. The water damage is worse and I won't be going the route of my warranty . I can sympathize with Phil as I know companies like this want to squeeze us for everything we are worth and give subpar work. I don't doubt his hands were tied. Still disappointed.
