Tamer Plumbing Introduce
For homeowners and property managers in Dearborn, Michigan, dealing with a plumbing issue is often a stressful and time-sensitive ordeal. From unexpected leaks to clogged drains, having a reliable professional to call is essential for maintaining the comfort and structural integrity of your home, especially considering Michigan's specific challenges like harsh winters. This article provides an overview of a local plumbing service, Tamer Plumbing, and offers critical general advice to help you navigate your plumbing needs with confidence.
The Michigan climate, particularly in the Southeast region like Dearborn, introduces unique plumbing concerns. While the service provided by any individual plumbing company can vary widely, understanding the local context is vital for every homeowner. The older housing stock in many Dearborn neighborhoods, for instance, means that issues like aging pipe materials (such as galvanized steel or lead), low water pressure due to corrosion, and vulnerable sewer lines are common. Furthermore, the famously cold Michigan winters make frozen and burst pipes a perennial threat, necessitating proactive maintenance and quick emergency response.
When selecting a plumbing service, local knowledge, licensing, professional conduct, and a commitment to quality work are paramount. Homeowners often report that the most common complaints about plumbing contractors across Michigan—and the nation—revolve around poor workmanship, inconsistent estimates, and a lack of accountability for mistakes. For any major home service, taking the time to research a contractor's history, local permits, and customer interactions is a crucial step in protecting your property and investment.

What is worth choosing
In the process of selecting any plumbing contractor in Michigan, homeowners should consider not just the services offered but also the contractor's reputation for quality, transparency, and professional accountability. The reviews provided for Tamer Plumbing contain serious and concerning claims from multiple customers regarding quality of work, proper permitting, and professional conduct. These claims include:
- Allegations of Disapproved Work and Improper Permitting: One complaint alleges that a city inspector "DISAPPROVED 8 TIMES IN A ROW" and that the plumber "DOES NOT PULL ALL PERMITS" on projects associated with a local home builder. Improper permits can leave homeowners legally and financially vulnerable in the future.
- Claims of Negligence Leading to Property Damage: A separate review details a situation where a new sump pump installation allegedly resulted in a burst pipe and water spraying onto new carpet minutes after the technician left. The customer alleges the company initially agreed to pay for the resulting water damage but later refused, with the owner being "very loud and unprofessional" and blaming the customer for the incident.
These specific customer experiences highlight critical areas of concern that Michigan homeowners must thoroughly investigate when considering Tamer Plumbing or any other contractor. When choosing a professional service to work on your home, you are looking for competence, insurance coverage for damages, and ethical business practices. The information available suggests that, as a local Michigan consumer, you should exercise extreme caution, verify all necessary licenses and permits directly with the city of Dearborn, and consider these reported experiences as a major factor in your decision-making process.
As a final caution, Michigan homeowners are advised on how to handle situations where a plumber’s work results in water damage. If a plumbing contractor causes damage to your home, a clear and decisive response is necessary to protect your property and legal rights. The general steps recommended for any Michigan homeowner in this unfortunate situation are:
- Immediate Damage Mitigation: Your first step is to turn off the water supply—either the individual fixture's stop valve or the main water supply to your home—to stop the flow and prevent further damage. Begin to clean up the water to prevent mold growth, which can start within 24 to 48 hours.
- Document Everything: Take extensive photos and videos of the damage and the failed plumbing work before any repairs are made. Documentation is crucial for insurance or legal claims.
- Contact the Plumber: Notify the plumber immediately and calmly. They may have liability insurance to cover the damage. Give them an opportunity to respond, but do not allow them to pressure you into waiving your rights.
- Notify Your Insurance Company: Contact your homeowner's insurance agent or company to report the damage. Even if you don't file a claim, this creates a paper trail. Your insurance company may pursue a subrogation claim against the plumber's insurance if their negligence is proven.
- Get Independent Inspection and Estimates: It is strongly advised to hire a third-party, reputable plumber to inspect the initial work and provide a report on the cause of the damage. Obtain repair estimates from professional water damage restoration companies.
- File a Complaint if Necessary: If the plumber refuses to take responsibility for the damage or the work is substandard, you have options. In Michigan, you can file a complaint with the Attorney General's office and/or the state agency responsible for professional licensing (if the plumber is licensed). Legal action through small claims court may also be an option for damage under the state limit.
In conclusion, while Tamer Plumbing offers essential repair services in Dearborn, MI, and accepts credit card payments, prospective clients should carefully consider the publicly available customer reviews and prioritize professional accountability, proper permitting, and high-quality workmanship in their final selection of a plumbing contractor.

August 06 · Makani PearcyAvoid this place at all costs. They came to my house and replaced a sump pump. 15 minutes after they left, the sump pump alarm went off and, luckily, my cleaning lady was there to hear it. She went downstairs and found a burst pipe with water spraying everywhere on brand new carpet. I called the business right away and had them come back. They were able to come back and fix it. However, a quarter of the basement carpet was soaked with water. It needed to be extracted and they had initially agreed to pay for the damage. I texted the owner so I could send her the invoice and she acted she had no clue what I was talking about. I called her and she became very loud and unprofessional with me and stated that she would never pay for such a thing. She then proceeded to blame the pipe bursting on me. She said I caused it and I don’t know how I could do that while I was at work when this happened and it occurred 15 minutes after they left. She then ended the call in my face. Her name is Zainab and everyone should avoid her at all costs.
