However, potential customers should approach their decision with a complete understanding of the company's customer feedback, particularly regarding billing practices. While the technical work is often praised as professional and quick, the detailed review highlights a critical concern about communication, delayed and questionable billing, and threatened collections for disputed charges. For customers, transparency and clear communication are just as vital as the quality of the repair itself. Therefore, while Barkley Plumbing offers a comprehensive service range, especially in gas fitting and new installations, customers are advised to request a clear, written, itemized estimate or quote before any work begins and confirm parts and labor costs upfront to prevent misunderstandings after the service is complete. By practicing this due diligence, Cullman residents can leverage the company's extensive experience and wide range of services while proactively safeguarding their consumer rights and ensuring a satisfactory overall experience. The option to pay by Credit cards remains a convenient feature for planned services.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I contacted seven plumbing companies for quotes and they were the only people to respond promptly with a fair price. Good communication, good price, and good work completed in one day.
May 05 · Donovan WilsonI would first say to anyone reading the reviews to really look at all the critical reviews and ask if you want to be that customer. My experience is that Barkley Plumbing was called by me to come out and fix a leaking shower head that would not turn off. 4 workers came to my home and completed the repairs in approximately 15 mins. All that was needed was a Delta Shower Cartridge, yet I received a bill in the mail, (not at the time of service, and never got any price info from the workers- that should have been my red flag) several weeks later for $410.00. Materials - 200.00 for parts that included, a shower cartridge, fill valve and flapper, then 210.00 for labor. Upon receiving this puzzling bill, I responded asking how they came up with this amount, let alone how a fill valve and flapper work in a shower? In my initial response, I did say I would pay as soon as Barkley Plumbing could answer my questions and send me an itemized bill with the breakdown and how they came to the amount of labor that they were charging. I then got a revised invoice that changed the labor to 135.00, and the same materials were now 127.00 that included the cartridge, fill valve and flapper, and still no response as to how the fill valve and flapper work on a shower. For 9 months I received a bill asking me to pay and I would reply, yet they would not respond to my simple question about how those two parts work on a shower head. Finally after 9 months, I sent an email stating that this would be my final attempt to settle this and would be happy to pay, but it was my final attempt, only then did I get a reply that they would take off the charges for parts that do not fit on a shower, but on a toilet (that was never called about nor worked on) and in this reply, I was threatened with a collection agency if I did not pay. Well, I paid, and now I am just giving a friendly heads up to those that are searching for an honest plumbing company, look elsewhere, Bark-ley Plumbing is not it. It is not just me who has had this sort of experience, once is a mistake but several is a scam. The 4 workers that showed up? They were nice and professional and were in and out with a completed job. It is the billing and communication that I warn potential customers about. My documented experience is still considering the BBB.
January 29 · Alan RudicilTake your money elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, they did a good job. They were prompt to get here and they did work fast to compete the job in a timely manor. When I asked the man on site what the charges would be so I could pay for their services, he said he didn't have any tickets on him and didn't know how much it would cost so they would send a bill in the mail. When the bill came in the mail I was in shock at the price. I called to ask how they come up with their price for service and I got the run around. They don't charge by the hour nor do they charge by the job. I guess they make it up as they go.Not to mention charging me for parts and materials that they bill to the gas company that I have to pay there. Yes, the materials are billed to me from the gas company. So for their parts and materials I have to pay for them twice on top of their insane labor cost.I don't mind paying someone a fair price for their services. I would like to keep my arm and leg that they are charging though.
June 21 · Taylor B.The 2 times I have used this company, they have been on time and done great work, at prices that were probably comparable to other companies.Ordinarily, I would give at least a 4-star review. But I'm giving a 1-star review now because I've been waiting a little over 3 weeks just to talk to someone about a plumbing issue at a rental property I own. I have called each week and talked with a lady at the office, and she tells me they are really busy but that she will tell them to call me soon as they can.The plumbing issue isn't urgent, but I need a 5 minute conversation with someone who does the actual plumbing work, to help determine what my options are. I explained that to the lady I spoke with.... that for now, I only need a short 5 minute or less conversation so I can give at least some kind of response to my tenant about what's going to happen next (and hopefully an idea of when). All I get are excuses about how busy they are. After 3 weeks of trying and waiting, I'm no longer buying the idea that any plumbing company is so busy they can't find the time to have a 5 minute phone conversation with an existing customer.
April 02 · David HudsonI have used Bark-ley twice now and have been pleased both times. I used them to install LP gas lines during my initial construction 8 years ago and called them last week for a water pressure issue. They did their best to be there the day of the call. But, I talked them into coming out the next morning as I suspected they would be there well into the night otherwise. They arrived first thing in the morning and were friendly, hard working and professional. They stayed with the job until everything was properly diagnosed and repaired/replaced. I will use them again.
